Advanced Shipping is any shipment sent to a SER exposition services designated warehouse. When shipping in advance, the shipment should not arrive more than thirty (30) days prior to the exhibitor move-in date, or less than seven (7) days prior to the exhibitor move-in date. If the freight arrives in our advance warehouse within seven (7) days of the exhibitor move-in date, SER exposition services will impose a late delivery fee and if applicable, overtime charges.
What is a CWT? C Weight? Calculating freight charges.
A cwt, or c-weight, is an increment of measure for freight. It is based on 100 pounds. If you have freight which weighs 2500 pounds, you would have 25 cwt's. To calculate your freight charges, take the number of cwt's and multiply by the dollar amount given for your type of shipment(advance or direct). This will be the charge for material handling. Note: all weights are rounded to the next 100 pounds, if you have 201 pounds, it is considered 300 pounds or 3 cwt's.
SER exposition services will charge a minimum of 200 pounds (2 cwt's) for all shipments.
Using the example above: 2500 pounds = 25 cwt's X $$$ = Amount due to SER exposition services.
Please remember, that this is a material handling charge, your shipping company will also charge you a fee. Also, there can be additional charges for late delivery or overtime, please refer to your Exhibitor Services Manual.
If you are shipping directly to the show (Direct Shipping), your shipment can only arrive on the day of exhibitor move-in, if it arrives before that day, the facility may refuse your shipment.
If you are shipping to the advance warehouse (Advance Shipping), your shipment should arrive between thirty (30) days and seven (7) days prior to the exhibitor move-in date. If your shipment is received within seven (7) days of the exhibitor move-in date, you will incur a late delivery fee and if applicable, overtime charges.
What if I miss the advance shipping deadline?
If you miss the advance shipping deadline, you have two options; first, you may still ship to the advance warehouse but you will incur late charges and possibly overtime charges. The other option would be to ship directly to the facility. Please call SER exposition services for more information concerning late shipments.
